Finance

Understanding the numbers.

Two common ways to fund a car, explained plainly. No representative examples are published here because no lender agreement is currently in place — we would rather tell you that than invent a rate.

The two routes

Own it outright, or pay for the miles you use.

Both are regulated credit agreements. The right one depends on how long you keep cars and how you use them — not on which has the lowest headline payment.

HP

Fixed monthly payments, no balloon, you own the car at the end.

PCP

Lower monthly payments, optional final payment, agreed mileage.

LUX MOTOR LTD is not currently publishing finance quotations on this website. Until an authorised lender arrangement is confirmed, every finance conversation happens directly with the team and is documented properly.

Hire Purchase (HP)
You borrow an agreed amount and repay it monthly over a fixed term. The car is yours at the end of the agreement once the final payment is made. Because there is no balloon payment, monthly payments are typically higher than PCP for the same car — but you own it outright at the end and there is no mileage limit to manage. Early settlement rights apply under the Consumer Credit Act.
Personal Contract Purchase (PCP)
You repay part of the car's value over the term, with a final optional balloon payment if you want to keep the car. At the end of the agreement you can hand the car back, part exchange it, or pay the balloon amount to own it. Annual mileage matters: exceeding an agreed limit can lead to excess mileage charges. PCP suits customers who like to change cars regularly and who are comfortable with an agreed mileage allowance.
Deposits and part exchange
A deposit reduces the amount borrowed and therefore the monthly payment. Your current car can often be used as a part exchange deposit instead of cash. Any figure we discuss for your car is subject to seeing and appraising it.
Agreement terms
Typical terms run between 24 and 60 months. The longer the term, the lower the monthly payment but the more interest is paid overall. All agreements are subject to status, affordability checks and lender approval.
Eligibility
You will usually need to be aged 18 or over, have a UK address and bank account, and be able to demonstrate that the repayments are affordable. Lenders carry out credit checks. A declined application is not a decision made by LUX MOTOR LTD.
How to enquire
